He's here!!!!!

Jack Mason Staffaroni made his grand entrance on Sunday, January 18th at 2:38pm!! He weighed a whopping 5 pounds, 7 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long. Jack came three weeks early and made it just in time to see the Eagles lose against the Cardinals! Matt and I are so beyond in love with him and can't believe that he is all ours!
We have been overwhelmed with visitors and well wishes from so many family and friends. Mommom and Poppop Helms and Nana and Papa Jack Staffaroni are beaming with pride and can't wait to show off their handsome grandson.
I will try my best to keep up with pictures and updates on the little guy!

37 weeks.....the end is in sight

Matt and I went to the doctor yesterday for my weekly check-up. The doctor hinted that I might have pre-eclampsia. Which is when I have protein in my urine, high blood pressure and a lot of swelling. (all of which I had yesterday:( ) But....my blood pressure was high for me, but still not at a risky level. I have had swelling during the day and at night, but it seems to be bearable. I also gained a significant amount of weight in the past two weeks, and that should not be happening at this point in my pregnancy. I am at a high stress level right now, b/c I am trying to wrap up everything with school and make the transition with the substitute as smooth as possible. I also have to collect urine for 24 hours in a row!!! I was given a large, bright, orange jug and was told to collect my pee for 24 hours....oh and to keep the pee in the fridge!!! (I have decided that my garage is cold enough to store pee, and it will stay in there.) All in all, the doctor didn't seem to nervous, which makes Matt and I feel much better! We know we are in good hands!
We will go back to the doctor on Monday and I will get checked again. Hoping things have calmed down we will proceed to wait for Jack to arrive on his own. But...if things seem not right again I could be looking at bed rest, medication or a possible c-section. I do feel good knowing that Jack is full-term and would be healthy if he had to arrive earlier than February 6th. But...I also know that I need to keep calm and relaxed for his and my safety. I will keep everyone posted after our appointment on Monday.

Here are a few more pictures from my baby shower last weekend!

Helms Baby Shower

Last Saturday, my mom and sister threw me a fabulous baby shower!!! Erin worked her butt off to get her new house ready for the shower (she moved in Monday and the shower was Saturday)!!! I was overwhelmed by all of the people that made the trip (girls from MD, aunt from Poconos, in-laws from Harrisburg and so many more). Matt and I loaded up with so many great gifts. This little baby is going to have the cutest outfits, the best toys and the hottest gadgets! Now...I just have to organize the nursery and write all of my thank-you's and we'll be set!!
Tomorrow, Matt and I are going to Babies R' Us to pick up our glider and ottoman. We are also going to get a car seat. After that, I will try to refrain from trips to that store, until after Jack is born.....I hope. I have one more week of school left and then I am officially on maternity leave! I need to start washing some of the baby clothes, clean the house and get this house ready for a baby! Max is having a hard time with all of the new toys that have been rolling in. I just can't figure out how to tell him that the squeaking, honking, shaking stuffed toys are not for him. I know what you're thinking....he's a dog. But...if you could see his face when he picks up that stuffed elephant....so cute!! I'll take any suggestions to help me and my spoiled dog:)
